De Americana blues-rock troubadour Grayson Capps uit Alabama is momenteel op toer door Europa. Hij heeft inmiddels 8 albums gemaakt, waaronder If You Knew My Mind uit 2005 en Scarlett Roses uit 2017.

Grayson, onderdeel van de supergroep Willie Sugercapps, is een echte verhalenverteller. Zijn teksten zijn uit het leven gegrepen en zijn muziek is wel omschreven als een combinatie van Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle en Howlin’ Wolf.

Als jonge man ontwikkelde hij een interesse in acteren en studeerde theater aan Tulane University in New Orleans. De oorsprong van zijn interesse begon met een knap meisje, en bloeide op tot een ware levensfilosofie. “There was this girl who was dancing, and I decided to join the theater so I could meet her. That’s how it started! Then it really did open my eyes and I wish everyone in the world was required to study a little bit of theater...”

Een van Grayson’s bekendste liedjes is ‘A Love Song for Bobby Long’, dat later de titel track zou worden van de gelijknamige film, met hoofdrollen voor John Travolta en Scarlett Johansson. Het scenario is gebaseerd op een ongepubliceerd, handgetypt manuscript van Grayson’s vader, Ronald Everett Capps. De roman lag jarenlang onderin een la en belandde uiteindelijk dankzij Grayson in de handen van een bevriende filmmaker.

Verder vertelt Grayson over de impact van Orkaan Katrina in zijn leven en de muziek van AC/DC, die hem hielp door de tijden van dakloosheid en chaos. En zijn grootste passie blijft toeren! "Every time I do a show, there’s a congregation of like minded people..."

...I think human nature is innately good. It’s just that the good energy people need to be louder, because the bad energy people are definitely too loud. There’s not that many of them, they’re just noisy!
