The Mars Volta was een Amerikaanse progressieve rockband uit El Paso, Texas die in 2001 is opgericht. Begin 2013 is de band vooralsnog uit elkaar gegaan.

De band bestond uit Omar Rodriguez-Lopez (gitarist), Cedric Bixler-Zavala (zanger), Juan Alderete (bassist), Marcel Rodriguez-Lopez (toetsen) and Deantoni Parks (drummer). The Mars Volta is voortgekomen uit de voormalige band van Omar Rodriguez-Lopez en Cedric Baxler-Zavala, At the Drive-In. De band staat bekend om zijn explosieve live-shows en hun mysterieuze, conceptuele albums.
